Robert Lamb joins dev.tv for Doctors on the Front Line Geneva, December 9th, 2005: Airing first on BBC World TV in January is Doctors on the Front Line, a series on the Médecins Sans Frontières health workers in the trouble spots of the world. This is the first dev.tv series to be executive produced by Robert Lamb, who after editing well over 300 award-winning Earth Report – Hands On programmes since the late 1990s is stepping aside in April next year. Lamb joins our Geneva-based non-profit on a part-time basis to oversee its broadcast output on global development and political issues. “Even though it’s a non-profit foundation, dev.tv has a highly professional ‘can-do’ approach. Its programmes are of a scrupulously high professional standard”, says Lamb. “Aware that Robert has had quite a few offers and is overseeing other TV projects with BskyB and others, we are flattered that he should choose dev.tv to be the main vehicle for his continued involvement in the non-profit sector”, says Bernard Robert-Charrue, founder of dev.tv. A former BBC producer and founder director of TVE, Lamb has overseen an output of around a thousand productions and co-productions that have at one time or another won all the major industry awards. “Doctors on the Front Line is a powerful series with MSF giving us unfettered access as their medical units cope with the victims of gang warfare and street violence in Haiti and Honduras, and of famine and civil war in Sudan and Somalia”, says Lamb.
Doctors on the Front Line airs its first episode on BBC World TV on January 7th 2006:
Episodes 2, 3, and 4 will be broadcast at the same times on the 14th, 21st and 28th January 2006 respectively.
