Match day in Nakivale - 1x20’ - English December 2002
Nakivale refugee camp is located in southern Uganda. Driven out of their own countries by the ethnic conflicts and civil wars that regularly flare up in the Horn of Africa, Nakivale refugees have formed groups within the camp along national and ethnic lines. How are hereditary enemies supposed to live together in the same camp? In an attempt to resolve this issue, a Canadian NGO called Right to Play organises different sports and competitions between the various groups. Sport is a way for former enemies to start talking again and interact on friendly terms.
